What to do when this weekend in Banff.

Banff is kicking off with a big weekend this week (with the Soccer World Cup being on I thought I would use soccer analogy)

The biggest problem, as I see it, maybe how to fit it all in and what to do when.

Today is the start of the Bike Fest (June 17 to 21), this is quickly becoming recognised as one of the premier cycling races in Alberta.

This year much of it is around the town, rather than being spread through the park, so it will be great for spectating.

There is a Cruiser Crit component for the Criterium course which is a Banff National Park 125th anniversary sponsored event, so Parks Canada is encouraging people to come out and take part. You can sign up on the day (Saturday) and at the same time will also be the sign up for the Little Crits race as well. So bring the bikes as well as the kids.

For full information of whats on and when go to Banff Lake Louise Tourism.

Also to take in is the car show.

Banff car show and camping weekend
This year should be great as the show has been given the 100 block of Banff Avenue. This is a great show. I am no car enthusiast but the cars are so neat it is definately worth a look (between races maybe?).

And last but not least, not for us Dads anyway. Its Fathers Day on Sunday. So if you’ve not already planned to why not book a room and a restaurant and make a weekend of it.

While you are here come in and see us at About Canada where we have loads of Canadian product but in particular I though you might like:

The About Canada Bike Fest Family Trophy(award it to Dad on Sunday)

Moose metal cylist ornament

The About Canada Bike Fest Spectators Trophy (again award it to Dad on Sunday)

Riding High

The weather is due to break tomorrow, but not be too warm, so it should be good for cyclists, spectators, fans and Dads – if you believe the weather guys!.

So what do you think, are you coming to Banff?
